Motoki Nakajima
Lead Engineer
St. Paul's School
Grade 10
My name is Nakajima, and I currently serve as a software engineer for Hayabusa Racing, a student-led team competing in the global F1 in Schools STEM competition. Although I am currently based in the United States as part of my academic studies, I remain an active and dedicated member of the team, supporting our activities remotely with a focus on software development and data analysis.
My primary responsibilities include analyzing the performance data of our car to help improve its speed and aerodynamic efficiency, as well as managing and maintaining the team’s official website. Through these tasks, I aim to enhance both the technical performance and the digital presence of our team. Working across time zones and collaborating remotely has also taught me the importance of clear communication and proactive coordination, which are essential skills in any global engineering project.
Engineering has always been a field I am deeply passionate about. From a young age, I have been fascinated by how software and hardware come together to solve complex problems. Joining Hayabusa Racing has given me an incredible opportunity to apply my interests and skills to real-world challenges alongside a team of like-minded, driven individuals. It has also allowed me to develop a greater appreciation for the intersection of science, design, and teamwork.
Despite the physical distance, I remain fully committed to supporting Hayabusa Racing’s mission to achieve excellence on the world stage. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the team’s success, while also growing as an engineer and global collaborator through this unique experience.
