Rona Sando
Project Manager
Hiroo Gakuen High School
Grade 10
After participating as an engineer in the 2023 F1 in Schools World Finals, Rona recognized that simply competing was not enough—he aspired to achieve more. Although the experience was deeply meaningful, the outcome did not meet the expectations he had set for himself and his team. This realization became a powerful motivator, ultimately leading him to establish Hayabusa Racing, a new team founded with the clear mission of becoming the best in the world.
Having spent part of his childhood in Canada, Rona developed strong English communication skills and gained early exposure to diverse perspectives and learning styles. These experiences continue to support his role in international collaboration and team leadership. Together with the insights gained from his previous competition, he brings passion, precision, and a deep enthusiasm for Formula 1 to his leadership of the team.
Beyond the goal of winning, Rona is committed to using Hayabusa Racing’s journey to inspire the next generation. Through F1 in Schools and the broader world of motorsports, he hopes to encourage more junior high and high school students in Japan to explore the exciting possibilities of STEM. His vision extends beyond the racetrack—he is dedicated to building a community where young people can see themselves as future engineers, designers, and innovators.
